Get Higher

minustheblunt On December - 13 - 20131 COMMENT

couple of tracks i’ve been sitting on. first is a heater from L.A. producer, Gary Richards, @DestructoHARD. This infectious tech house beat will keep your head bobbing and is complete with some insane mind-fuck visuals. Next up is a cut from UK producer @DeejayMosca’s EP release from November 2011. This beat is best enjoyed with some pole dancers pole dancing in the foreground. Finally a track from Belgian Drum n Bass producer @netskymusic’s 2010 release. Drum n Bass has yet to really catch on in the US but the amount of energy in the tracks is unmatched in the EDM world. Stay ^

EarthCry – Anthony Thogmartin

minustheblunt On November - 25 - 20131 COMMENT

I’m very excited to show you this side project from Asheville’s Anthony Thogmartin of @Papadosio. Two Saturdays ago I had the pleasure of seeing EarthCry open up for The Werks and Papadosio at the Music Farm in Charleston. I was immediately blown away by how enticing the sound being put out was, and how seamlessly Anthony was outwardly performing electronic music rather than just pressing play like many artists in the industry today. After seeing EarthCry perform, I immediately copped the album, “Hear the Earth, Heal Yourself – Heal the Earth, Hear Yourself”.

The back of the album reads, “This music was created for one solitary purpose: To Heal. Each work of the heart in this album was meticulously tuned to a tone in the ancient solfeggio scale. These frequencies are known to heal and aid the human condition.” Not only does each precise song express a healing tone, but 50% of the sale and touring proceeds of this astounding album go toward Groundswell InternationalThis non-profit organization’s mission is simple, to “contribute to the global movement to overcome poverty, inequality and ecological destruction by supporting community-based organizations to work together to improve wellbeing, spread lasting solutions and engage in wider coalitions for change.” The people at Groundswell believe that “our global agricultural and food system is broken and needs to transition to one that is more sustainable and beneficial to the world’s population.” If you take a look around their gift catalog, you can see exactly where your money is going and how exactly it will benefit a community. The difference between this organization and any other is that this one does not focus solely on food security but also working to strengthen farmer’s networks and support women-led initiatives in attempts to fix broken institutions to actually better the community to a point where they will be able to self sustain.

This inspirational album is truly awesome and even if it weren’t entirely for a righteous cause I would recommend buying it. It is easily the most complete electronic album I have encountered to date, and it’s purchase can help better this Earth. Because of the not-for-profit nature of this movement, I have only included one of the tracks for listen. The rest can be previewed and purchased here. Don’t sleep on this one.

@Flooziesduo – Tell Your Mother

minustheblunt On November - 15 - 20131 COMMENT

The producer/guitarist & drummer sibling duo hailing from Lawrence, Kansas just released a crazy full-length album, their first release on Griz’s record label, Liberated Music. The whole thing features funky guitar licks on every track that develop into some massive electronic drops and samples from all over the place. They have a completely distinct sound that pushes the boundaries of EDM, a characteristic that is essential to stay afloat in today’s industry. Definitely do not sleep on this one. If you dig the sound, cop the whole thing here. stay ^, enjoy the weekend.

@saQiMusic – Quest’s End

Based out of Nevada City, California, on The Polish Ambassador’s record label, this producer released this awesome album on October 2 at whatever price you’re willing to pay . Very upbeat and very easy to dance to, this whole album is a work of art. Filled with catchy guitar riffs and effective use of horns, this uplifting album is worth a listen. If you dig the sound of these featured tracks you can cop the whole thing here. Also included in this post is one of my favorite tracks from Polish off of his April 16 2011 release: Future, Sex, Computers. stay ^

Audio Relaxation

MoonSauce On November - 10 - 20132 COMMENTS

@HYDRABADD is a fresh new DJ duo out of Atlanta, GA that has been pleasing my ears for a couple months now.  They explore many electronic soundscapes in ways that I’ve never heard before.  Second track by Kaytranada out of Montreal, Canada is a laidback banger that follows a similar vein to the style of HYDRABADD. Last up is a track from the Colorado based DJ, Late Night Radio. His latest album Far Into the Night is a great listen for late sunday night relaxation.  This track, my favorite off the album, starts off slow and progresses into an entrancing melodic masterpiece.

Gesaffelstein

minustheblunt On November - 10 - 20131 COMMENT

Been diggin this new album from French producer Gesaffelstein. Dude has been spinning since 2008 and released his new album Aleph on October 28th. Whole thing is filled with filthy low frequency wobble. A truly unique style of electronic with a nice balance of trap, dub & house. Bonus is a throwback Minnesota track that has some ridiculous wobble. You can catch him at the Music Farm, Charleston with MiM0SA on Wednesday. stay ^
